Between the Red, White and Blue: American Conflicts Through Asian Eyes
Partner Event
May 30, 2026 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT
Oswego, NY 13126
American national identity has always been framed as a struggle of two sides: Natives and Colonists, Patriots and Loyalists, Free and Enslaved. But what does it mean to someone who does not fit neatly in either category? Would you fight for it? This talk illustrates the story of Asian immigration to the United States from the American Revolution to the turmoil of the American Civil War by reflecting on what it means to navigate a changing society by those who took arms to defend it. The history of Asians in the United States reflects the underlying history that connects all in their pursuit of the 鈥淎merican Dream鈥.
Join Historian Daniel Sieh, a Public Historian with over 14 years of experience, in presenting this talk to celebrate America's 250th and Asian Pacific Islander month. Previously, Daniel has worked at Colonial Williamsburg and later on at Claude Moore Colonial Farm as one of their Public Historians. He graduated with a History degree from the College of William and Mary in 2016 and has a Master's degree from American University. Currently works as a Capital Markets Manager for Freddie Mac.
