The first major land engagement of the Civil War took place on July 21, 1861, just 25 miles from Washington, D.C. The First Battle of Manassas (also commonly known as the Battle of Bull Run) saw a Federal army set out to capture the Confederate capital at Richmond, Va., but ultimately retreat in disorder. Realization hit that this would be a longer and far deadlier war than initially predicted. Just 13 months later, when war returned to the same fields, during the Second Battle of Manassas, the scale of conflict and bloodshed was greater still.

The 91茄子's Animated Battle Maps Collection tells the story of America鈥檚 defining conflicts through compelling story telling, state of the art graphics and live action video.
