Great Savannah, SC

Great Savannah

Today, visitors can walk the same ground as Patriot Brigadier General Francis Marion as they walk along the many scenic trails of the Santee Wildlife Refuge. While Patriot commander Thomas Sumter’s plantation, Great Savannah, near Nelson’s Ferry no longer exists, visitors can learn more about the battle and the area at the Santee National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.
