Prairie D'Ane

The scene of heavy skirmishing on April 12, 1864, the Prairie D'Ane Battlefield looks much as it did in 1864. The engagement was the high water mark of the Camden Expedition, which was a cog in the larger Red River Campaign. Although the Federal army under General Frederick Steele was ultimatley victorious, supply and logistal problems forced Steele to ultimatley turn back to his supply base at Little Rock, Arkansas.
