Ringgold Gap Battlefield

A small roadside park one half-mile east of Ringgold on U.S. Route 41 commemorates the Battle of Ringgold Gap. The nearby Western and Atlantic Depot still shows scars from the damage it received from artillery fire during the battle. The General Patrick R. Cleburne Memorial, a statue dedicated in 2009, is located at the small park. A monument to the New York brigade of Colonel David Ireland is nearby at the end of Depot Street. The battlefield was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. Bronze plaques and historic markers commemorate the historic event at this site.
