Museum of the Albemarle

North Carolina

501 South Water Street
Elizabeth City, NC 27909
United States

The museum tells the story of the people who have lived in the Albemarle region from prehistory to the present. The Albemarle region is the northeastern corner of North Carolina and was the earliest settled part of the state. During the Civil War, many battles were fought here. At the museum you can see remnants of the CSS Black Warrior, part of the Confederate Mosquito Fleed destroyed on the Pasquotank River during the Battle of Elizabeth City in 1862. View relics from area Civil War veterans and a smokestack from the CSS Albemarle, a Confederate ironclad.
