The Battle of Pickett's Mill involved 24,000 troops and resulted in a Confederate victory. The Union forces under Maj. Gen. Oliver O. Howard suffered 1,600 casualties, while the Confederates under Maj. Gen. Patrick R. Cleburne suffered only 500. The battlefield is in an excellent state of preservation.
