Four hundred and twenty-one Confederate soldiers, whose names were finally discovered not long ago, and four unknown Union soldiers are buried here in the West Hill Cemetery. A memorial wall has been erected listing the names of the Confederates. Dalton was also the home of several important Confederate hospitals during the war.
